Projects and structure
For the two years following early March 2020, life became radically different for many of us. Old patterns were broken, social life was relegated to distanced meetings outdoors or to virtual meetings via computer, and many of our days were spent at home in solitude. This left a vacuum, and people filled this void in diverse ways, according to their individual needs and preferences.
For me it was a photographic project. Whenever I was outside, whether on a walk or biking somewhere, it was almost always with a camera, documenting the landscapes and cityscapes in my daily surroundings. I could share the limited world that had become the norm.
As we approach the summer of 2022, there is a sense that there is a life after the pandemic. Horizons are opening again, and the projects that seemed important then seem have run their course and seem less relevant now.
This leads me naturally to question what to do next. I will continue to photograph; having a camera and usually a spare lens with me has become a habit. There are loose threads spinning about that need to be woven into a story, or maybe several. Exactly what forms these take remains to be seen, but as a first step, I have remade this website as a new start for the process.
